In recent years, China's building energy consumption continues to rise. The appropriate choice of indoor environment technology to reduce conventional energy consumption, building energy consumption has become an urgent problem to be resolved presently in Heating Ventilation and Air-Condition field. As an building energy saving technology based on renewable energy, Earth-Air Heat Exchanger having lots of advantages such as simple structure, high energy efficiency, easily operated and maintenance, etc., which caused widespread concern. IN order to study the appropriate applicability of Earth-Air Heat Exchanger system in Chongqing, an experimental research has been carried out.Firstly, we analyzed the air handling processby Earth-Air Heat Exchanger system both in summer and winter. Further analysis of the temperature distribution in shallow layers of the earth in Chongqing has been carried out. Futhermore, thecomparison between the temperature distribution and air`s temperature indifferent time periods of summer and winter found that: Summer temperature difference for heat exchange is between 3.4 ? ~ 10 ?, while winter temperature difference for heat exchange is between 7.3 ? ~ 16 ?, so an conclusion has been easily brought out that Earth-Air Heat Exchanger has a certain potential application in the region.Then, we take an Earth-Air Heat Exchanger project of an office building in Chongqing as research objects, to design and buildthe measurement platform here.Respectively, a test on the Earth-Air Heat Exchanger system of summer and winter performance had been run out in August 2015 and January 2016. The measured results revealed that: the Earth-Air Heat Exchanger system cansupply fresh airof stable state both in summer and winter, along with higher energy efficiency, 9.06 cooling EER for summer and 4.47 EER for winter.Subsequently, based on the measured data, the paper compares the Earth-Air Heat Exchanger system with the common fresh air system(air source heat pump) to analyze the effect of energy saving. The daily mean electricity saving in summer and winter is 32.32 kWh/d and 31.95 kWh/d respectively, and the annual electricity saving is 4346.6 kWh. So the Earth-Air Heat Exchanger system has certain energy-saving potential on the applications in Chongqing.Finally, the static and dynamic payback period are selected as the economic evaluation index. The economic calculated parameters are determined by referring to the local quotas and inquiring cost personnel. It is calculated that the static payback period of Earth-Air Heat Exchanger system(underground corridor) and Earth-Air Heat Exchanger system(outdoor buried pipe) are 17.22 years and 6.59 years respectively, and the corresponding dynamic payback period is 25.17 years and 8.41 years respectively. So the cost of investment can be recovered in its lifetime, with certain economic benefits.
