Along with the rapid development of our economy and society, the rapid growth of power load, the peak-valley difference is increasing, requirement for stability of power grid is also getting higher and higher, the lack of peaking capacity will become a prominent problem that restricts the development of the power system. Pumped-Storage Power Station with its unique operating characteristics of adjusting peak and filling the valley, plays a role of load adjustment and energy conservation in the power system, maintaining the safety and stability of power grids, gradually become an effective and indispensable means of regulation in our country power system. Hydraulic turbine governing system is one of the key of turbine control system, responsible for the important task of wicket opening, frequency control, load adjustment and change the operating conditions and son on, its reliable operation is directly related to the safety, stability and economic operation of power plants and even the whole power system. In order to fully grasp the speed control system equipment status, implementing proactive maintenance and optimal maintenance of the system are required to carry out the state analysis and fault diagnosis of the device on the basis of the equipment condition monitoring.In this paper, the study on pumped storage unit control system online State monitoring is based on the State Grid Xin Yuan Holdings Co., Ltd project “Jiangxi Hongping pumped storage power station governor system simulation and performance testing and diagnosis research”. Firstly, to meet the practical needs of party to use the monitoring system, considering comprehensiveness, feasibility, economic and other factors, the system’s monitoring objects, selection and location of the sensor are determined. In order to make full use of the existing resources of the power station, four ways to obtain the state information of the speed control system are put forward. Combined with the actual situation of the power station, to facilitate power station operators’ handling and operation, the portable structural framework was taken. On the basis of comprehensive utilization of state monitoring technology, taking the monitoring system’s future upgrades and extensions into account, a real-time, embedded turbine governing system condition monitoring and diagnosis unit is designed and the extensible and modular pumped storage units on-line monitoring software platform is also developed.The monitoring unit uses fieldbus technology to achieve information sharing and integration, improving the utilization of information and system scalability, providing data support for control optimization and fault diagnosis, improving the efficiency of plant operation and quality of maintenance effectively, promoting the safe stable operation of the power plant, maximizing the benefits of pumped storage power station. From what discussed above, we can draw a conclusion that it will be of great significance in practical use.
