With people’s increasingly strict demand for the quality of electricity, we have established the backup power systems like UPS and EPS in the important departments such as data centers in banks, switch rooms, communication base stations, substations, and data centers in airports. Storage battery which consists of a large number of batteries is an essential part of UPS and EPS. Therefore, it is an important research issue to monitor the performance parameters of the batteries in the storage battery and to make sure they can function correctly at the crucial moment.Traditional monitoring of the battery mainly employs the off-line mode, that is to say, the workers test regularly the parameters of the battery off-line. This mode fails to monitor the battery’s working conditions on a real-time basis, and it also wastes man power and financial resources.In recent years, there appears the on-line monitoring mode of the battery. In fact, however, they primarily employ the way in which each battery is connected by wire and the measurement is time-sharing. This mode has three shortages:wiring complexity (especially when there are many batteries), difficulty in installation and maintenance, and bad portability. Therefore, based on the market needs and the advantages of the laboratory of the modern communication technologies at CCNU, we put forward the research subject of on-line monitoring batteries which are grounded on Linus and Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). This thesis is a part of the whole system project, aiming at the design and realization of the on-line monitoring and analyzing system about batteries’ malfunctions under the Linux environment. The main researches this thesis has achieved are as follows,a. The analysis of the system requirement, the design of the overall program and the establishment of the embedded development environment, including the transplantation of the proper BootLoader, kernel and file system.b. The construction of system platform and the realization of the key technique code, including the transplantation and application of databases Sqlite, the control of multiple threads, QT/Embedded transplantation, and the logging system of the soft keyboard, etc.c. The self-examination of the system functions and the monitoring of the batteries’s troubles, including the fault judgment of the batteries and informing the users of the warning by GPRS and E-mail.d. The establishment of test platform, giving an overall test about the system, showing the shortages of the system, and correcting them.
