The aircraft towing system refers to a ground taxiing system including towbarless towing vehicle and aircraft. Good braking performance is an importance requirement to aircraft towing system. The study of the braking performance of the aircraft towing system will be advantageous to airport ground safe operation. In this paper, a theoretical analysis is carried out for braking process of aircraft towing system to determine braking performance evaluation indexes. In which, effects of load shifts are considered. Then, braking performances are analyzed in case of Boeing 737-800 towing system, Airbus A320-200 towing system and autonomous aircraft braking system. To simulate three kinds of braking conditions, dynamic models of aircraft towing system are design and established with ADAMS software. A co-simulation study with Matlab and ADAMS is also executed to clarify influence of ABS system on braking condition. According to results, braking performances of different towing models are compared and analyzed. This provides a reference for airport towing operation and design of towing vehicle.
