Traditional villages are artifact which work on the natural environment during the small-scale peasant economy period. The consequence that results from its internal force is called endogenous type. The opposite is called intervention type. The traditional village is an unique combination of material and non-material cultural heritage, with a high historical value; its internal self-sustained growth ensure its sustainable development, but with industrialization, pure endogenous growth may damage to the historic village, the village also unable to resistance the strong involvement of foreign markets, therefore it need the conservation planning to involve the protection and development of traditional villages. However, fully involved in planning for the village are devastating, only to retain the growth factor can the continue the traditional village's activities. Based on this, the writer put forward the concept of conservation planning under limited intervention. Conservation planning in this thesis refers to those rural planning which made on the premise of conservation. It is different from the historical conservation planning on the conventional sense.Limited interventional conservation planning involves traditional villages in systematic, targeted and universality moderately. The systematic involving controls the whole village infrastructure, the targeted involving protects the important historical and cultural area of the village.Outside of the targeted area, it allowes the villagers' self-construction updates, but this needs the universal control and guidance.Taking Hanling village in Dongqian lake Ningbo as an example, this thesis further studies the historical value of two different dynamical evolution, market and village and analyzes the dilemma of decline and strong external intervention. The planning method under limited intervention runs like this: On the systemic level, it aims to improve infrastructure services under the rule of adjusting the measures to local conditions and combining the history with present situation. On the targeted level, it selects three districts centralized by three different families and a street as core area and put forward strategy of section integration and planning, in order to protect traditional market feature and rural society nature of Hanling and cope with foreign business intervention. On the universallevel, it controls and guides the sustainable construction of village through dividing courtyard and listing the renovation and reconstruction list.
