Recently, more and more attention aboutenvironmental protection work is paid in the road construction of China At present, the asphalt pavement used in the road construction is basically a hot mixed asphalt mixture. When the hot mix asphalt mixture is used in the construction process, the mixing and molding temperature of mixture is very high, generally above 160 degrees, which not only consumes a lot of energy, releases a large number of polluting gases, but high temperature construction will accelerate the aging of asphalt, influence the construction quality and construction conditions. Therefore, a kind of new asphalt mixture called warm mix asphalt(WAM) was developed. Warm mix asphalt mixture technology is refers to the way reducing viscosity asphalt, which can decrease the mixing and formingtemperature of asphalt mixture, but has similar performance as hot mix asphalt mixture. WMA is a kind of environment-friendly construction technology.Based on preliminary study, a kind of new WMA agent, called high water absorbent resin of warm mix agent is developed. In this paper, four kinds of agents, including high water absorbent resin of warm mix agent, sibot, Aspha-min and Evotherm were introduced and their mechanism was also analyzed. In this paper, mix design of asphalt mixture AC-13 and AC-20 was carried out, the mixing and compaction temperature and molding methodof high water absorbent resin warm mix asphalt was studied. The road performance of WMA and HMA mixture with same material and mix proportion is determined and compared. Because high water absorbent resin warm mix asphalt mixture shows poor water stability based on test results, the improving method is developed.Then the AC-20 asphalt mixture was selected, the performance of four kinds of WMA mixtures, including high temperature stability, low temperature cracking resistance, fatigue performance and mechanical performance of dynamic modulus was tested and compared.The test results show that: when the mixing temperature of asphalt mixture is reduced by 25 degrees, the water absorption resin warm mix asphalt mixture has a slightly less water stability, and the other properties are as good as that of hot mix asphalt mixture. Other than fatigue performance, high water absorbent resin warm mix agent asphalt mixture can improve the high temperature stability, low temperature stability, it can enhance the anti rutting performance of pavement. Among four kinds of warm mix additives, Sasibot warm mix asphalt mixture has best high temperature performance, Aspha-min warm mix asphalt mixture has best low temperature performance, Evotherm warm mix asphalt mixture has best water stability. The agent of Evotherm and Aspha-min warm mix can significantly improve the fatigue performance of mixture.The results of this study can guide the construction of warm mix agent and warm mix asphalt mixture, to provide technical reference for different regions of our country with different warm mix additive.
