With the rapid development of economy in China,the high-grade highway construction of our countryhas been actively developed. The asphalt concrete pavement for its good sliding resistance, low noise, driving comfort, convenient for maintenance has been widely used.At present,the HMA (Hot Mix Asphalt) has been mostly used on asphalt concrete pavement of the highway construction. Due to in the process of HMA production will produce high temperature heating, but also a large amounts of harmful gas and dust will be produced in the process of production and construction, resulting in more energy consumption, and a serious impact on the environment. To comply with our energy conservation, environmental protection and sustainabledevelopment strategy requirements, the technology of WMA (Warm Mix Asphalt)has been discussed and studied in this paper. The technology of WMA is by taking some technical measures to reduce the viscosity of the asphalt. Then the WMA can be mixing and compaction at lower temperatures, ensure the road performance and workability ofWMA and HMA has basically the same way.In this paper, reduce the viscosity of asphalt by adding warm mix asphalt agent method to achieve the effect of warm mix, and through a large number of laboratory tests to determine the best dosage of warm mix asphalt agent and WMA of mixing and compaction temperatures.At the same time as compared to HMA, laboratory tests have been conducted under the same conditions, the study of the performance of WMA’s volume, high temperature stability, low temperature stability, water stability and fatigue properties. Test results of the laboratory tests to guide road paving, and comparing the actual test results and laboratory test results to verify each other.Finally come to conclusion that WMA in the laboratory and actual use of road performance with HMA basicallyno different, which can meet the actual requirements of pavement. Finally, the social and economic benefits of WMA has been calculatedto assess in detail that WMA which adding the new warm mix asphalt agent can be effective energy conservation, and hasn’t increase the cost of highway investment and efficiency significantly.
