Because of its superior strength, modulus, technology, heat resistance, corrosion resistance and fatigue resistance, the composite materials are widely used in aircraft manufacturing field. In the process of composite die design, the design of the template is complex and requires a lot of time. This paper describes the design of a computer aided rapid design method of composite mould template,according to the design characteristics of the composite mould template, design division stencil for surface pretreatment, surface extension, offset surface, four template generation process, and from the following steps. CATIA platform in the development of the composite template mold rapid design tools, can improve the efficiency of mold design template, shorten the production cycle.The research contents and the work done in this paper are as follows:1) By studying the working face of the template extension process, the analysis of the topological structure of the complex surface can not be the normal extension of the CAD software, the reasons for the simplified surface topology to complete the method of surface extension. The key problem to solve the problem of the partial complex surface is solved, and the design efficiency of the composite mould template is improved;2) The method of surface offset based on discrete points is studied, which improves the efficiency and quality of the offset surface by controlling the accuracy of the offset surface. Through the control of discrete surface precision of offset surface accuracy control self then distance scattered point and eliminate the offset of the discrete points, finally construct implicit equidistant surface equation and by implicit surface mesh parameterization methods complete equidistant surface reconstruction. This method improves the efficiency and quality of the offset. Solved the problem of self intersection which may arise when using the original CATIA order;3) based on the actual shape of the composite die, a new method of forming the template is proposed. After obtaining the upper die surface and the offset surface of the template, the template entity can be directly generated by the method;4) Application of VS2005 and CAITA/CAA development tools in the CATIA platform for the development of composite materials mold rapid design system, has been successfully applied to a certain aviation manufacturing enterprises in china.
