The research is supported by National Natural Science Foundation Item(Grant No:5150 5373) and Scientific Research Program Funded by Shaanxi Provincial Education Department(Program No. 15JK1490). Applying with the basic theory of belt drive, coordinate transform-ation theory, elastic mechanics and finite element method, the analysis of bearing capacity of the steel wire rope as the key transmission components of the wire rope type continuously variable transmission provides theoretical basis for the research and development of WR-CVT. The main research is as follows:This paper studied the basic structure and transmission mechanism of the wire rope CVT, and the main structural parameters of CVT were determined to establish a structural model of steel wire rope; based on the analysis of the forming process of steel wire rope used on WR-CVT, established the mathematical model and the geometric model of straight and curved steel wire rope; steel wire rope based on Costello elastic theory, established the mechanical model of straight and bending the wire rope; through the analysis of the contact between the wire rope and the metal block, deduces the rope and the circular groove of contact pressure and contact wire rope expression, butt section and noncontact section of the mechanical analysis of the building; finite element analysis of wire rope model using ABAQUS software, the stress and deformation distribution of steel wire flat wire rope are simulated, compared and analyzed the circumferential direction, cut wire rope.The stress variation law of the direction of the surface radius and the direction of the rope is revealed, and the load characteristics of the wire rope used in the continuously variable transmission are revealed.
