As the power equipment, aircraft engine has a decisive influence on the performance of a ircraft and the progress, even success or failure of the aircraft development. With the rapid pro sperity of the global aviation industry, the performance analysis and the system development of aircraft engine have become a hot research field. However, due to technical difficulties, lon g cycle and vast costing of the research and development of aircraft engines, the performance analysis and system development of engine are very relatively difficult.According to the current level of aircraft engine performance valuation and system devel opment, the fuzzy theory and the grey relation theory, the rough sets and the TOPSIS(Techni que for order preference by similarity to ideal solution) were combined together respectively t o establish two methods of aero-engine performance evaluation. These methods were proved t o be feasible and correct by comparing and analyzing the evaluation results of 10 types of eng ines using these two methods. The principles of these two evaluation methods are different. T he fuzzy gray relation evaluation method needs to determine the membership function and sel ect the assessment basis, which depends on the subjective awareness of evaluators. The evalu ation results of this method are influenced by subjective factors, but its requirement for the dat a samples is low and thus it is easy to implement. The TOPSIS method based on rough sets do es not need subjective prior knowledge weights and can obtain information only through the d ata. Therefore, it can avoid the interference of artificial attribute weights and the sorting result s are objective and accurate. However, this method has higher requirements for the data sampl es, i.e., the data samples need to be representative. At last, a support system of engine performance database was designed and developed, doing statistic analysis of the AD, SB and other technical documents, and then a report was generated. This system can realize the information sharing of engine performance data and thus it enabled the information to be fully utilized, actively understood and effectively improved. Also, to some extent, the realization of the function of engine performance evaluation provide an important means and technical support to improve engine reliability, maintainability and economy. Accurately grasping the condition of the engine performance provides quantitative indicators for the airline's maintenance decision.
