The realization of 3D aircraft maintenance virtual environment is important to enhancing staff skills, reducing cost, improve training efficiency and raising the immersion sense of the maintenance and training environment. As a critical part, LRU(Line Replaceable Module) simulation model should focus on its quality, which could directly decide the simulation effect of 3D virtual environment. Based on the 3D simulation environment of A320 digital virtual maintenance simulation platform in laboratory, and given the great quantity, heavy variety and extreamly complexity of the cross-linked information flow, this paper mainly focused on the characteristics and realization method of simulating LRU components.Firstly, this paper introduced the concept of 3D simulation environment and LRU. Then comes the background and objective of simulating LRU components modeling. Based on the above, it did some analysis of simulating LRU components modeling requirements, thus pointing out that LRU simulation component model could be applied to the 3D aircraft maintenance virtual environment to improve the efficiency and the ability of maintenance and training. It also Expounded the relationship between the real LRU objects and LRU components, then modeling simulating LRU components for real LRU objects LRU by using object-oriented modeling method.Secondly, this paper analysed and built 3D geometric property and 3D behavior property for simulating LRU components. After analysis of advantages and disadvantages of several3 D methods, a visual modeling software is chosen to build 3D geometric model for simulating LRU components. In order to improve the system real-time rendering efficiency and visual effects, this paper adopted LOD technology to optimize the 3D geometry model. It also proposed to adopt Agent behavior modeling method to build model for simulating LRU components, The simplified Agent weakened the autonomy of itself, thus improving reaction and interaction of the simulating unit.Finally, this paper took a brief analysis of the existing platform, image rendering engine OSG and Bullet physics engine in laboratory. For a specific task to repair, it took the crossfeed fuel valve actuator as an example, and use 3ds Max modeling tool to create the geometric model of the simulation components, which then should be introduced intothe platform. And under the platform we implemented the model of LRU simulation components through programming.
