In order to solve the problem of the convex horn of the traditional H-shaped or box-shaped columns in the steel structure construction, the special-shaped column is gradually popularized.Currently, few researches focus on the closed-section special-shaped members. In this paper, the theoretical study, experimental research and finite element analys of the overall stability of T-shaped closed-section members under compression and bending was developed. It is hoped that it will be helpful to promote the use of closed-profile shaped cross-section members in multi-story steel structure buildings.Strength, stiffness and stability are three important issues in steel structure designing. When the slenderness of the members is large, the failure is often not destructive but destabilizing. In this paper, the bending-torsional buckling equilibrium equation of bending-torsion members was deduced and the formulas of axial force and moment were obtained. The cross-sectional characteristics of T-shaped closed-section members were deduced as well.According to the current steel structure specification, the T-shaped closed-section section was designed and subjected to uniaxial compressionbending test. The ultimate load, deformation, displacement and strain of the key points were obtained. After the analysis, the actual force mode of the component was obtained, and the conclusion and the problems found in the experiment were summarized and analyzed. The eigenvalue buckling analysis of T-shaped closed-section members was carried out by using ANSYS finite element analysis software, and the critical stress curves of theoretical bars were compared to verify the correctness of the modeling method. Then, the nonlinear analysis of the members was carried out to analyze the effect of the initial defect on the ultimate bearing capacity. The results were compared with the theoretical formula. It is verified that the relevant stability formula of T-shaped closed section cross-section can be used in checking the overall stability of compression-bending members.
