| The public spaces are one of the most important issues of landscape architecture and architecture and urban planning. Since antiquity, they are particularly important centers of functional and spatial structure of the city that affect its image, attractiveness and identity. However, in the era of metropolisation, they are highly endangered on account of too low rank and alleged lack of profitability in relation to residential development. This work deals with public spaces in Europe and its purpose is to examine the trends that exist in the design of modern concepts. The examination of the compatibility of new projects with prevailing legal provisions, analysis of these objects in terms of functionality and, especially, the impact of individual components on the presence of users, which is a key element of any public space, were crucial in this thesis. The work has been divided into seven chapters; starting with a review of the literature concerning related issues, ending with the results of the analysis. The analysis of eight selected public spaces is included in this paper. |
