Based on research of relationship between urban public space and urban public transportation, it is argued in this dissertation that both of these systems develop in coherence, and find way to unification in coexistence. Simultaneously, with"layer"analysis of interrelationship about public space and transport systems through macrostructure and case study, a set of design principles about urban public space, on the basis of urban public transportation, is put forward to be reference for future city construction. This dissertation also makes an evaluation on the existing systems of public interchange and public spaces in Hexi district and Hexi new city center of Nanjing after investigation and research, which puts emphasis on the quality of integration of both two systems. Then combined with actuality, it makes some suggestions which adjust the net of public transport interchange and public spaces in pertinence. At the same time, relating to public transport interchange system, this research tries to find a way to improve the quality of urban public spaces in Nanjing, at the sight of urban design.
