Glulam reticulated shell structure, as a representative of the green buildings, has an important value not only on economic and ecological benefit but for practical scientific research. For promoting development of glulam structure, through summing up many research findings about this made from scholars both at home and abroad, glulam reticulated shell structure is selected as a breakthrough and a brief generalization and summarization of the joint connection types, advantages and disadvantages of the glulam reticulated shell is drawn. To work out performance and stability about glulam reticulated shell structure under static load as well as dynamic load, different section sizes, different joint connection types(respectively are rigid joint connection, hinge joint connection and new energy-consuming joint connection) of glulam reticulated shell structure are established and then a large amount of data are calculated and compared by using finite element analysis software ANSYS. And then a new kind of energy-consuming is adopt to conduct the vibration reduction analysis.Overall, the analysis in this paper can be summarized as follows.(1) The existing difficulties and shortcomings of glulam reticulated shell joint connection are expounded. Referred to some of the existing related research achievements of energy-dissipating controllers, a new kind of energy-consuming joint attached to the glulam reticulated shell structure is adopt. The structure characteristics, working principle and performance of the joint is briefly described. Finally according to these aspects, the joint is simplified by using numerical simulation method in the ANSYS software.(2) Based on ANSYS APDL parametric modeling ideas, selection of element type,material model parameters, boundary conditions and the joint connection processing work is done to finish building glulam reticulated shell structure model and then started the static analysis. Through comparing analysis results under different sizes of bar section that applied the static load, the choice of optimum section is achieved. Furthermore, the results and data output of three different kinds of joint connection, displacement, axial force and moment included, are compared and analyzed. Some useful conclusions are drawn up at last.(3) Stability analysis of glulam reticulated shell is undertaken. The stability of the reticulated shell theory is elaborated, including listed the main influencing factors of instability of reticulated shell structure and two different types of buckling; And according to this theory, the key factors led to the instability of reticulated shell structures such as mesh sizes, boundary conditions, joint connection methods are carried out as the control variables in the glulam reticulated shell buckling analysis. Considering different initial defects value sizes,bar section sizes, rise-span ratio, boundary conditions and joint connection modes, geometric nonlinear buckling analysis of initial imperfection is conducted. By comparing the data extracted from analysis results, the influence of key factors to affect the stability of the glulam reticulated shell is discussed.(4) Seismic analysis of glulam reticulated shell is done. Firstly, modal analysis of glulam reticulated shell is performed and the vibration frequency and vibration model can be got from that. Secondly, the rise-span ratio, division numbers and bar section sizes are taken as variables to conduct the study of fundamental frequency. Similarities and differences between the structure's spectrum modal analysis results made from different joint connection types are compared. Finally, time history analysis method is taken. The seismic wave is selected to match the site classification and the design earthquake group, using specific numerical method to adjust the seismic records representative, as the seismic wave for the time history analysis. Afterwards the results and data output, axial force and displacement included, made with different earthquake waves are analyzed.(5) A new kind of energy-consuming is adopt to conduct the vibration reduction analysis,using applying the new joint to instability nodes symmetrically, all the nodes with as well as all nodes without energy dissipaters these three ways, to contrast displacement changes about the nodes led in the center, the central and the edge location and axial force changes in typical bars under the action of the rarely met earthquake. Therefore, the damping effect of the new kind of energy-consuming joint applied on the structure under different seismic waves is obtained.
