The main content of this paper is to introduce the technique and process of the A-class sedan ergonomic design. First, we set up the man-machine sizes. Then we analyze and check by using the software “RAMSIS”. Finally, we use the test bench to validate.First, according to design specifications and experience of SAE dummy, we do the initial ergonomic design, set the sitting position and seat trip, arrange the main handling parts like steering wheel, pedal and shifting handle, etc. Then we establish the Chinese dummy data base of all percentile in the RAMSIS to prepare the ergonomic analysis of the Chinese dummy. Analyze the sitting position and seat trip, exam and calculate the comfort of all percentile dummy by using the established Chinese dummy data base. Simulate each extreme dimension and driving posture, analyze the arranged position of steering wheel, pedal and shifting handle, etc. Optimize the ergonomic scheme according to the result, confirm the sitting position and main handling parameters. At last, set up a test bench according to the ergonomic scheme, make a further verification of the scheme and the RAMSIS check results. Confirm the A-class sedan ergonomic scheme as an input to each section's detailed design.
