Vehicular ad-hoc network(VANET)is a network formed spontaneously by wireless communication equipment between vehicle-to-vehicle(V2V)and vehicle-to-infrastructure(V2I).Due to the openness of the wireless network,VANET is confronted with various attack and security threats. This paper focuses on privacy-preserving issue of secure communication in vehicular ad hoc network, which includes identity privacy, position and data privacy. The following two aspects are mainly performed.First,a secure official vehicle communication protocol is developed. The official vehicle is the kind of vehicle for official use,it is temporarily assigned to the officers.Official vehicles should be under the governmental supervision, meanwhile,a certain confidentiality is necessary to ensure the execution of public affairs. The protocol designed in this paper combines homomorphic key agreement, symmetric encryption, message authentication and digital signature mechanism, etc. With this protocol, safety and privacy of official vehicles can be better ensured.Second,a multimedia on-demand communication protocol for long-distance passenger transport is investigated. When demanding multimedia service on coach, not only service but also individual privacy, which includes identity, position, data and so on,should be provided to passengers. This paper proposes a protocol that integrates identity-verification based pseudonyms, fair blind-signature theory, digital signature, etc.Property analysis shows that the protocol could satisfy the security requirements of VANET.Besides, passenger privacy is protected, communication efficiency is enhanced simultaneously.
