Study On Cultural And Architectural Features Of Hakka Storied-buildings In The West Of Fujian Province

As a component of Hakka architecture,little attentions had been paid to Hakka public storied-buildings,compared to Hakka Tulou.While there are so many differences in shapes and functions between public storied-buildings and Hakka Tulou in fact.What is more important is that Hakka public storied-building’s mode of combination of rammed earth construction and timberwork is unique in Chinese traditional storied-buildings.That is to say,the study of Hakka public storied-buildings is to enrich the system of Hakka architecture research and to push a in-depth study in Chinese traditional storied-buildings research at the same time.On the base of field investigation to many well-conditioned Hakka public storied-buildings,feasible methods and ideas in research have been picked up after summarizing relevant research findings.And then classifying the Hakka public storied-buildings according to its type traits which is a method from typology.Conclusions of the Hakka public storied-buildings study has been made at the end of this paper,along with my advices and wishes.The first chapter is the introduction.Preparations and positioning of this subject is the main content in this part.There are three topics of preparations:the study of Hakka architecture,the study of Chinese traditional storied-buildings,the study of Raw soil construction.The second chapter shows the results of field investigation,giving a describing of Hakka public storied-buildings in the west of Fujian province which starts this study.The third chapter is about a primary research to this subject.For the reason that architecture research cannot apart from culture study and building decoration is the carrier of culture study,so building decoration is selected to be the clues of this part to introduce the characteristics of Hakka architecture and Hakka culture.The forth chapter and the fifth chapter are the center section of this paper.They both concentrate on the structure of Hakka public storied-buildings.The forth chapter gives the classifications of Hakka public storied-buildings in regions,flats,functions and structures.The fifth chapter gives an analysis of the instances of three modes of combination of rammed earth construction.The names of the three modes are ’the soil under the wood’ type,’soil for most’ type and ’the soil outside while the wood inside’ type.The last chapter is a summary of this paper.This research proved that Hakka public storied-buildings in the west of Fujian province is a kind of valuable group of Hakka architecture for its delicate structure system and deeply cultural connotation inside.In spite of the data of drawings by surveying and mapping,the totally idea of researching this topic has been practicing.In addition,advices and hopes to further study of Hakka architecture has been put forward in the end of this paper.
