The structural parameter identification of artillery is of great significance to the structural design of artillery.In the design of cannon,if the structural parameter,such as the structural size and material parameter,etc.,were determined,the mechanical properties were determined consequently.However,due to the manufacturing and assembling process,the structural parameters of designed artillery may deviate from the design values,thus experimental studies must be conducted to identify the parameters using vibration data to verify whether the product was consistent with design,and designed results can be then modified according to the difference between the identified values and designed values.In this paper,the numerical simulation and experimental verification studies on structural parameter identification of artillery had been carried out utilizing empirical mode decomposition(EMD)method.First,the finite element model of a certain vehicle-mounted artillery barrel was established using the ABQUS,the frequencies,damping ratio,and the matrices of mass,stiffness and damping were identified under the free and restraint status using the node acceleration response and the EMD method.Second,the finite element model of the vehicle-mounted artillery saddle ring was established to obtain the dynamic response of the roller,then the contact stiffness of the roller was identified based on the simulated acceleration response and the EMD method.The simulation results of artillery barrel and saddle ring correlated well with that of the referenced values obtained by finite element method,which demonstrated the feasibility and effectiveness of the EMD method in artillery parameter identification.And finally,experimental studies were conducted using the vehicle-mounted artillery barrel and saddle ring through hammering method,the parameters,e.g.,frequencies,damping ratios,stiffness matrices of the barrel under different sate and the saddle ring were identified and compared with the experimental results of commercial software.The experimental results were identical to the experimental results,which further demonstrated the effectiveness and accuracy of the EMD method in artillery parameter identification.
