The objects of this paper are the gardening motif-paintings and Chinese gardens of Ming Dynasty.After analyzing the history,the reliability of the paintings and the adequacy of basic information,the research of the recoverability of Chinese gardens were finished.Then,based on a scroll called 'The Picture of Shao Yuan' pained by Wu Bin,this paper completed the restoration of Shaoyuan(The Spoon Garden).Firstly,the existing stages of Chinese painting history and Chinese garden history in the Ming Dynasty were discussed,therefore,I confirmed the key study period.Secondly,according to the importance of the existing gardening motif-paintings and its relationship between landscape restoration work,this paper categorized all those paintings.And according to the cause of the paintings,this paper analyzed the credibility of the paintings and the recoverability of the different gardens.After that,the paper summarized and expounded the relationship between landscape painting and landscape architecture.The main content of this article focused on the restoration of Chinese gardens basing on the paintings.After all these work,this paper studied and restored a famous garden,Shaoyuan,because it is representative,reliable and it has enough basic information.After researching a large number of ancient works,paintings and other historical materials,I revised and improved the plan details,mainly on the basis of scholar Jia Jun's early drawing.Then,I drew the aerial view map,analytical diagram and 3D models,in order to reproduce this classical garden.
