A Building Information Modeling(BIM)model is a digital description of a project and has got the great attention in the Architectural Engineering and Construction(AEC)industry.According to the perception of AEC,BIM is an effective and a faster way of designing and best method for construction management.It can decrease the construction cost,decrease the time taken and decrease the human resources.BIM also allows the engineers,architects and constructors to visualize what is to be built in virtual environment and to identify potential confliction in design,construction or operational of the facility.This research aims to rank the advantages,barriers and potential fields of application of BIM in AEC industry of Pakistan.It also quantifies the case study by taking the difference between BIM model and the real life project.For this,the data of the real life project is taken from the contractor and then the model is prepared by using specific BIM software such as:AutoCAD(2d drawings),Autodesk Revit Construction 2014,Primavera P6 and Navisworks Manage to complete the task.Specifically,the model is developed in the Revit and the dimensions are applied such as "3D visualization","4D Planning and scheduling" and "5D cost estimation".For planning and scheduling Primavera used the Work breakdown structure(WBS)and activities were defined on the bases of Revit model and also the quantities are taken rom model for cost estimation.The relationships are developed and then this data is directly imported to the Navisworks for the 4D Scheduling.I also did the case study and the data was collected from one of the contractor of a commercial building and result collected through questionnaire from the people.In the final step,the results are compared with the real life project.I conclude that a robust implementation of our BIM model helps to improve the quality of work,as it has build virtually,before building physically,that reduce the cost and time in comparison to actual cost and time.
