Lead-acid battery charging cycle was too long and lifecycle was too short due to its unreasonable charging methods.A power of 10 kW lead-acid battery charging system was designed in this paper. The paper completes the following work:This thesis has a profound research and design on lead-acid battery charging system, which contained a three-stage charging method for lead-acid battery charging system by battery characteristics and existing charging methods. Also,This system was divided into two parts: 10 kW pre-stage AC-DC circuit rated power was to achieve power factor correction and high power factor design.2.5kW post-stage DC/DC converter rated power was to achieve voltage conversion and avoid Boost PFC generated over-voltage phenomenon. The pre-stage power factor correction circuit used the four-way staggered Boost PFC to elaborate circuit principle and switching device and control chip selection. The post-stage DC/ DC converter adopted the double-tube forward circuit to elaborate the circuit principle. The circuit power devices and control chip selection will be described. The 4.5kW prototype production was realized after circuit power devices and control chip selection was described. In this thesis, the modular design was used to design the design parameters of the pre-stage power factor correction and the post-stage DC/DC.Then the performance of each module was verified by experiments. The experimental result showed that the three-stage charging system by large power has the power factor was at 0.994 and the efficiency was at 91.3% under the rated power output, which also meant this design achieves the expected result effectively. Finally,a further optimized scheme was proposed to improve the system efficiency and power factor.
