Since 21 th century,China's ports in the coastal area have been ranked in the forefront for many years.However,because of the poor infrastructure and the out-of-design berthing capacity,besides the corrosion and overload of facility,the fatigue problems appear constantly.Hydraulic structures have been damaged seriously,safety accidents of port facilities happen frequently.How to take effective risk management of water transport engineering infrastructure maintenance is the most urgent problem to be solved.The purpose of risk control in water transport engineering operation is to identify and to predict the risk source with scientific technology,therefore,to control and even to prevent from risk happening with proper ways.The application of risk management makes the maintenance to be cut down,and the port infrastructure to be kept in good state.This paper adopts Fault Tree Analysis(FTA)in order to identify risk factors in the infrastructure maintenance of a port,and to set risk evaluation model with probability statistics.Through the analysis on the risks,the main source in port area lays on personnel and management,in addition to extreme weather.Building the system of risk management of water transport engineering infrastructure maintenance shall mainly focus on four parts,namely,the management objectives formulation,the management program improvement,the working process reengineering procedures,and the perfect management systems.The key of the facilities maintenance is the to establish a talent team.It is significant for the development of the port and the port city to build a perfect facility maintenance system.
