The urban waterfront space is always the city’s energy source from the ancient times cause it is convenient for peoples’ production,living,transportation and flood control,and it also has brought great economic value to the surrounding development with its superior natural environment.China’s waterfront development and construction began in the 1990 s,there is no much experience and just focus on the followup the sample of western countries’ waterfront space construction,and ignore their own attributes and characteristics and blind development and construction,which bring serious damage for our urban waterfront construction.Until the beginning of 20 th,Professor Wu Liangyong put forward the "Organic Update" theory and put into practice to gradually reverse the new situation of urban renewal and construction,He advocated the city’s renovation and construction should follow the rule of urban development,conform to the texture of the city,to make thee sustainable development as the premise of the city’s renovation and development.This article is based on the theory “Organic Update” and studies the Urban Waterfront Space’s vitality enhancement issue into the filed of Urban Waterfront Space by the means of theoretical analysis and case study,macro analysis and micro-planning.Firstly,the part of theoretical analysis make contrast of the situation of Urban Waterfront’s update development on the basis of definition of relevant concept both China and foreign countries.Different development path requires us based on the actual situation of China’s waterfront space update construction,put forward the solution to the specific problems.Meanwhile,on the basis of the analysis of previous theoretical and practical case,this article put forward the organic update model under functional guidance,which is,combined with the characteristics of different functional areas in the waterfront space scope,targeted to be updated separately.Secondly,on the basis of analyzing the development and construction of the coastal water at home and abroad,taking the Pingzheng River(Mianyang City)as the center,starting from the present situation of the water front space and the law of the flow of the people,make the study of the spatial vitality of the Pingzheng River(Mianyang City).Thirdly,according to the actual situation of the waterfront space for Pingzheng River(Mianyang City).and the core content of the "organic renewal theory",construct the update system,propose the update target,ideas,principles and methods,and from the view of city function areas(i.e.,living area,business district,cultural district,ecological area etc.)update the design of Mianyang Pingzheng River waterfront space,to enhance the vitality of the city.Finally,summary the update strategy for the promotion of urban waterfront space vitality from the cultural,ecological,economic,transportation and other aspects.And put forward some suggestions for the implementation and management,from the implementation of the theory,the public participation,and the legal sound three aspects,to ensure the orderly development of the waterfront space renovation projects.
