In the study of the global strategy for the protection of the world heritage,heritage in the twentieth century has been regarded as an important research content.In the past 20 years,the international community has been paying more and more attention to the modern architectural heritage.The modern architectural heritage has been protected,preserved,managed and introduced by more and more professional institution.Since the 1980 s,China has begun to protect the historical and cultural heritage,and so far our country has made great progress in the protection of historical and cultural heritage.But due to the short preservation in all aspects,in the process of the protection of historical and cultural heritage,we have neglected the protection of modern architectural heritage to a great extent,and the mining object of protection is not comprehensive enough,while the value evaluation is not sufficient.These phenomena have occurred,which leads to a lot of problems in the protection of the modern architectural heritage.With the development of the protection work,the improvement of the protection system and the transformation of the concept of protection,the state has begun to pay attention to the protection of the modern architectural heritage,and has made some achievements.But in the process of protecting,the attention of modern architectural heritage started relatively late,there is not enough experience.Considering the modern architectural heritage's endless varieties and large quantities,now the protection work for modern architectural heritage is not enough.In order to solve the above problems,the protection planning of modern architectural heritage is the most direct and effective means to protect cultural relics and buildings,which needs to rely on the accurate and comprehensive investigation,scientific planning and scientific protection.Because the preliminary research can provide a reasonable basis for the preparation of the protection plan,the early research for the protection of heritage building planning is very important.Therefore,this paper is devoted to the research on the protection planning of modern cultural relic buildings,in order to provide reference for the protection of modern cultural relics.This paper,first looks for the background of this topic,namely the modern architectural heritage protection planning attention which gradually increased,and then emphasizes the process of modern architectural heritage protection planning,whose preliminary investigation is to provide the basis for the modern architectural heritage protection planning basis,and to lay a scientific foundation for the preservation planning.On the basis of this,this paper takes the investigation method of modern cultural relic building protection planning as the research object,analyzes and understands the related concepts,and then puts forward the corresponding research methods and research framework.According to the there is no special method for the protection of modern cultural relics in our country,this paper puts forward the characteristics and existing problems of the research methods of modern cultural relic protection planning.The main features of China's modern cultural architecture have to reflect the characteristics of China's transformation from a feudal society to modern society,as well as reflecting the characteristics of China's ancient architecture to modern architecture by building the transition,the short period,the huge amount,and the characteristics of historical legacy investigation,research problems and cases,the paper summed up the modern architectural heritage protection planning survey methods which should be improved,and optimized the focus of the modern
