| With a long history of more than 6,000 years,brick has greatly promoted the development of construction in our country,leaving behind world-famous cultural heritage,such as the Mausolem of Qin Shihuang and the Great Wall.At the beginning of the 20 th century,clay brick is commonly used as building materials in all kinds of large-scale factory building construction.Especially in the 40 s,we conducted a large scale of production and construction,resulting in a large number of exquisite masonry brick industrial buildings.However,due to our country’s low average land possession and the large consumption of soil for fire clay bricks,it is now banned in our country to make and use solid clay brick.Under the condition of the disappearing of this kind of clay brick in our history,it is more important for us to transform the existing of clay brick buildings,and it is more worthy of our thinking and research.As the earlier industrial buildings in our country are mostly made up of clay brick masonry,it is especially important to have a deep discussion about the theory of the reconstruction of the old industrial buildings under the background of the conservation and renewal of the old industrial buildings.Although we have made some progress on the research of the reconstruction of industrial buildings,we still haven’t had any specific theoretical research,lacking in relatively detailed theoretical study and theory based on the characteristic of clay brick renovation of old industrial buildings.Therefore,based on the characteristics of clay brick material,this article aims to explore the damage of clay brick masonry of industrial architecture form and damage factors and the problems in the repair and reconstruction from the physical properties,mechanical properties and aesthetic characteristics of clay brick,exploring the historical value,cultural value,artistic value and technical value of brick industrial buildings.Based on the characteristic of clay brick,we will mainly focus on the brick transformation methods and strategies of industrial buildings so as to find out the principles and methods in updating and reconstructing the old industrial buildings.In the end,we hope this would fully help us have a further research of the industrial heritage reconstruction theory based on the reconstruction of brick industrial buildings.In this article,focusing on the clay brick masonry of industrial buildings,the author had made some the literature collection,sorting and researching work,and finally summed up the common architectural design methods and reinforcement measures based on some examples of successful reconstruction.Besides,the author has summed up the elements and principles we should pay attention to during the reconstruction,which in return guided the deduction of reconstruction methods.With concise language,we summed up four refined brick reconstruction methods of the old industrial buildings,namely,"technical repair based on the continuation of history","the overall retention based on dialogues between the old and new ",“mirroring the overlying epidermis" and "new arriving with outstanding features".As for themeasures of reinforcement of industrial brick buildings,it includes " optimization of original structure "," adding new supporting components ",“new structure taking the place of the original one”," coexistence of the old and the new ".Finally I would like to further prove the practicability of this reconstruction method with the design of some actual projects.In this article,in order to further refine the renovation theory of industrial buildings and to provides some reference to the reconstruction of some practical projects,the author drew the conclusion of the reconstruction methods of the industrial buildings according to the characteristics of clay brick material from the perspective of architectural design.Finally,the author would like to point out the shortcomings of this research and put forward its proposals and prospects as well. |
