Differing from the traditional bridge valuation which concentrates on the deflections of numbered positions,Prof.Zhou Zhixiang put up the 'Bridge Physiognomy' theory, which provides a totally new valuating method by studying the connection between morphology and structure conditions. The matching equipment to this theory is a set of advanced mobile 3D laser scanning system which is able to obtain the bridges' point clouds and put them in the unified coordinate system. The connection between bridge morphology and structure status was explored.Several methods of obtaining bridge physiognomy data were valuated. The data processing method was also explored. The connection between bridge morphology and structure condition was explored by theoretical analyze,FEM calculation and experiment data. The deflection regularity of hollow under different conditions was summarized. The relationship between the experimental beam's deflection and safety was also analyzed.Investigating the latest bridge inspecting equipment and surveying equipment, analyzing the adaptation of obtaining bridge morphology data. Some bridge morphology obtaining experiments were carried out by using laser scanner and parascan surveillance system. The mobile 3D laser scanning system's adaption to bridge physiognomy data obtaining was demonstrated. The working principles of the advanced mobile 3D laser scan system were analyzed and a suggested data collection process was put up.Bridge physiognomy data collection experiments were carried out,and the progress from original data to bridge physiognomy data was summarized.Data comparison methods were explored and the visualization, denoising and data compression were achieved in MATLAB.Some data collection suggestions were put according to the data collection and processing experience.
