Slope stability analysis is an important theoretical topic in geotechnical mechanics, and it is also an important practical topic in engineering. In this paper, the commonly used limit equilibrium method for slope stability analysis is introduced in detail, and the existing limit equilibrium method is compared by examples. The existing problems are pointed out.In order to solve the problem of com-mon limit equilibrium method, another method of slope stability analysis is introduced,namely,load-ing coefficient method. It applies a hypothetical volume force, whose direction parallel to the bottom of the bar,and makes the may slope reach the ultimate balance of the sliding state. To make some as-sumptions in the bottom of the normal force, according to the normal force equation of the bottom of the bar.On the basis of the limit Equilibrium principle and Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion, the ana-lytic solution of slope stability loading coefficient is deduced, which makes the assumption of un-known quantity have more theoretical basis and more definite physical meaning.Using safety factor as stability index to evaluate slope stability is popular in engineering. In accordance with Mohr-Coulomb criterion, the definition of safety factor and loading coefficient, the relationship be-tween the load factor and the safety factor is deduced in theory.Based on the static equilibrium and Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion of the possible sliding body, the uniform equation between the safety factor method and the loading coefficient method is established. The corresponding numerical algo-rithm is studied, and the relationship of the stability indicators between the loading coefficient and the safety factor are numerically simulated.Using the relationship between the safety factor and the load-ing coefficient, the safety factor is calculated directly from the analysis of the load factor. The results of calculating the slope stability index are more accurate, and the calculation workload of the stability index is greatly reduced.
