Whether the Chinese traditional landscape architecture has the modernity is the key to decide whether it can be inherited.Modern architecture originated in the early 20 th century German Bauhaus.It is a profound revolution in architecture combining architecture with social production conditions,which dominated and the modernist architecture and its related construction in western countries and all over the world.In 1978,Bruno Zevi summed up the “the seven principles of modern architecture” from the height of the architectural language as the As a generalization of the characteristics of modern architecture after the dust settles,and the basic standard to judge the modernity of architecture.Landscape belongs to the Chinese local architecture.Landscape architecture as the concept of professional term is unique to China.Chinese traditional landscape architecture can be used " to cross,used for touring,to appreciate,to live",which shows both of the humanity and scientific construction.It is ont only the gene pool of Chinese traditional culture but also the museum of traditional building types.In the face of the impact of all kinds of "modernism" on Chinese architecture and the frustration of modern city people for inhabit far-away,thinking about the modernity of Chinese traditional landscape architecture is an important agenda for building "cultural self-confidence" in Chinese architecture.This paper takes the traditional Chinese architecture as the research object,based on Bruno Zevi's “the seven principles of modern architecture”,and tries to discuss "What is modernity","Is Chinese garden architecture modernity","Is the Chinese traditional garden architecture possible to become modern architecture",from the "Western and Oriental,architecture and gardens,history and modern" three angles.Through theoretical analysis and case analysis,the study comes up with the conclusions:Theory first.Compared with Bruno Zevi's “the seven principles of modern architecture”,those are the principle of principle,the principle of asymmetry,the three-dimensional perspective of anti-classical,the principle of four-dimensional decomposition,the principle of cantilever,thin film and shell,the principle of space-time continuity,the principle of combining architecture,city and nature,Traditional Chinese landscape architecture is not subject to the limitations of traditional official architecture,with human nature,with the shape of the device,scattered perspective,virtual reality,frame structure,space-time blend,fractal isomorphism,almost fulfilled all the seven principles of modern architecture.Space is the essence of architecture.Compared with the 20 th century western modern architecture space,Chinese traditional landscape architecture has a similar flow of space to Barcelona Pavilion and a similar total space to Vansworth House,that reveals the similarity between Chinese traditional landscape architecture and western modern architectural space.Compared with contemporary architectural experiments and practices,Dong Yugan,Wang Xin,Wang Shu,Ma Yansong et al.'s architectural philosophies are the inheritances and developments of the creative spirit of Chinese traditional landscape architecture which are the mutuality,picturesque view and picturesque structure,courtyard spirit,Da Wu Ding organizational thinking of "the law of Chinese characters ",learning from nature,and so on,that reveals the possibility of blending traditional construction into modern life.
