With the rapid development of Higher Education, the university teaching building,the carrier of Higher Education space,has been put forward to the new requirements from different aspects. As the result of science and technology's comprehensive development,there are large demands for inter-disciplinary talents. The university teaching building must respond to this trend promptly. However, the traditional university teaching building,which is usually set up by the department, is difficult to adapt to those new needs.In the exploration of the new kinds of the university teaching building, the integration teaching building, which could adapt to the new concept of higher education, has been gradually accepted. Different from the traditional teaching buildings,the integration teaching building could afford more neutral functional space for students to participate in various activities. However, the integration teaching building lacks of the comprehensive understandings of the neutral functional space in use.From all the above, this paper analyzes the definition, functional attributes and design logic of neutral functional space in the integration teaching building, using the research methods of literature review, case study and model analysis, to summarize the characteristics of the neutral functional space in the integration teaching building.
