The Study On The Problems Faced With The Development Of University Campus And The Strategies For Spatial Planning Under The City Functional Space Integration Period

Campus as an important component of urban space, its form in space is changing with the development of the city but in a constantly changing process. China's campus from suburbs early to inner city modern, its form in space are all closely related with the development of the city. Now China is in the period of urban space function integration. With the urban expansion into sprawl stage, the conflict on scarcity of land resources between the inner city and the Campus is intensified. Most colleges and universities have construct New Area in suburban, as so, suburban University City or Higher Education Industrial Park whose core industry is education, as the Higher Education Area has being to become the main form of the domestic university spatial layout. The form in space like this, on one hand, causes inconvenience on daily life for the whole staff; what's more, serious loss of human resources in universities is potential. On the other hand, it leads to a series of problems such as, pressure on public transport increasing, hollow of the inner city education, redevelopment of the land around the original university campuses, the city's new round of suburbanization and other urban problems. On the long run, it's negative in terms of cities and universities, if we didn't take measures to properly control. In recent years, some scholars have made some very good research work on the relationship between urban development and the campus, but elaborating the relationship of campus and surrounding community on qualitative aspects. The study on the problems under the new campus space form and strategies to address these problems is lack. This article is based on view of the sustainable development of the city and university, we have collected some primary data by interviewing a few of universities and the University City, analyzed and summarized the national universities existing forms and the problems they faced; On the same time, we have researched success stories about universities and university city building at home and abroad to learn from their experience for the domestic universities; Finally, we will propose targeted integration measures for college campus in China. Hope that, this research can call attention to the issue of current campus suburbs-building mode to realize the sustainable development of university and city.
