Multi-mode warhead is introduced to meet the multiformity of target in future battlefield based on the development flexibility and smart ammunition technology,and it is a warhead who can meet the requirements of multiple lethal principle,flexibility,multi-objective strike capability.Its remarkable characteristic is that achieving switchable multi-penetrators through different initiation ways or installing an ejectable device to make the multi-purpose missile come true.Based on the method which is putting an ejectable variable thickness liner on wrapping variable thickness liner,this warhead can form PELE penetrator and tandem EFP.When the target is close light armored target such as cars,gunships,launchers,message centers and so on,the warhead will eject ejectable liner before attacking the target and form PELE penetrator who can enlarge the crater based on enhanced lateral effect.When the target is distant heavy armored target such as tanks and cavalry carrier,the warhead will form tandem EFP to meet distant attack and deep penetration damagement.Numerical simulation on the process of two penetrations and the influence on the configurations of two penetrations about different factors is carried out by using ANSYS/LS-DYNA finite element software,the research shows that:(1)the wrapping liner can form PELE penetrator which is made up of shell which is composed of high density metallic material and inner core which is composed of low density metallic material,and the arc-cone liner can form PELE penetrator preferably in comparison with large cone angle liner and hemispherical liner.(2)Numerical simulation on the process of PELE penetrator under different factors such as curvature radius,cone angle,charge shape and so on is carried out,and the influence rules on configuration of PELE penetrations about different factors are obtained,and then the best structural parameters are achieved by using orthogonal design at velocity index.(3)When the ejectable variable thickness liner is installed on the wrappingvariable thickness liner,the warhead can form tandem EFP.(4)Numerical simulation on the process of tandem EFP under different factors such as wall-thickniss and material,and the influence rules on configuration of tandem EFP about different factors are obtained.The multi-mode warhead which can form PELE penetrator and tandem EFP is practicable theoretically by using numerical simulation research,and this can provide technical guidance for engineering application of multi-mode warhead.
