In the traditional light steel structure,the profiled steel sheet is extensively used in construction of roof panels and wall panels.Usually,these profiled steel sheets are called "Stressed-skin diaphragm".In the light steel structure,the profiled steel sheet which used as the building envelope can also under the plane loads partly when is is connected well with the beam-column components.That is,the profiled steel sheet has the in-plane shear capacity,and participate in the stress of the whole structure,and partly stengthened the stiffness of the whole structure.In addition to,it can greatly improve the spatial integrity of the structure and reduced the lateral shift.Scholars called this function of the profiled steel sheet as "stress-skin effect".For more than half a century,foreign scholars have done a lot of research on the stress skin effect,and created a mature skin design specifications.However,in our country,the research on the stressed skin effect is still shallow,Although a large number of scholars has been conducted many test and research for the stressed skin structure,But these studies are mainly focus on the skin deck itself.In the actual engineering design,the designer also used to regard the stressed skin effect as a safe reserve,regarding its beneficial effect on the whole structure.Based on the above backgrounds,this paper summarizes and uses the results of the predecessors' research,By analyzing and summarizing the main components of the stressed skin structure,the type of the node arrangement and the mechanism of the skin effect,the basic conditions of considering the stress skin effect can be considered in the actual engineering design,and the common analysis method of stress-skin effect.Firstly,learning and refer to the current specifications to establish a finite element model of a traditional multi-storey light steel structure house that does not take into account the stress skin effect.then,by considering the control factors that have been summarized by the stress skin effect of light steel structure,we establish a finite element model of a traditional multi-storey light steel structure house that take into account the stress skin effect by change these control factors.furthermore,by Analysing and comparing the internal force distribution,displacement deformation,strength,stiffness and economy of the two models.Then inferring the actual deformation and force law of stress skin structure.In addition to,Summarizing the advantages and disadvantages ofthe stress skin effect in the design of the light steel structure,the technical difficulties,the economy and the problems that should be paid attention to in the design and construction.Finally,Combined with the current policy background,Carried out a simple SWOT analysis on the stress skin effect.Then used the professional engineering cost measurement software caculating cost of the traditional light steel structure with the displacement of the column as the control volume and the structure of the light steel structure is considered,,then compared them and find the main difference between the two construction costs.And then combined with the conclusion that the structure can reduce the cross-sectional dimension of the component and reduce the lateral constraint by considering the stress skin effect,suggested that the light steel structure considering the stress skin effect can have a better economic benefits.
