In recent years,with the rapid development of the power grid,the contradiction between the number of substation and the shortage of the number of staff on duty is becoming more and more serious.With the promotion of fewer people on duty and unattended mode,the workload of the inspection is getting bigger and bigger,and many problems of manual inspection can not be solved.The robot can be used to aid and even replace manual inspection of substation equipment,so that it can effectively avoid the security hidden danger,so as to achieve a more reliable inspection of the equipment.This paper introduces the development of the inspection robot technology and its feasibility in the field operation of the substation.Research on intelligent inspection robot for a 500 kV substation in Hebei Province,the general frame of the system,the software control system,the base station system and the mobile station system are introduced.At the same time,this paper also introduces the equipment pattern recognition and the sound acquisition and analysis of the substation robot inspection system.By the actual use of the system in the substation,summed up the advantages and disadvantages of the system.The safety,economic and social benefits of the application in substation are analyzed.The use of inspection robot can improve the quality of equipment inspection,and effectively reduce the risk of substation personnel and labor intensity.However,there are still some problems in the actual use of the process,which need to be solved and improved.
