The innovation of bridge structural systems exerts a significant influence on civil engineers.A variety of bridge structural forms are the results of innovation.After surveying previous researches of innovation of bridge,this paper proposes a new structural system-the inclined column bridge.The main point is the designing theories of the inclined column bridge,several interrelated questions are studied as follows:(1)At first,The history of four fundamental bridge styles development is briefly described.This paper points out the significance of bridge structural study,and summaries innovation of the existing bridges.(2)The form of the inclined column bridge.The main component of the inclined column bridge includes two inclined columns and lots of horizontal cables.The two inclined columns form a "V" shape,and the bottom of the "V"is consolidated with the abutment.The "V" is separated from bridge decking,and the horizontal cables connect the two inclined columns.Deck loads are transferred to the columns through hanger rods or pillars.The cable forces can be determined under the principle of equilibrium,and the columns are only subjected to axial force.There are two methods to adjust the cable force.One is the formula inferred by principles of mechanics.Another is by effect matrix method which like cable-stayed bridge.(3)The key parameters research of the inclined column bridge and theories of design.This paper chooses some key parameters including the horizontal cables broke by pillars which in the middle of "V" shape,the symmetry of two"V",the inclined angle of the inclined column,the spacing of the horizontal cables.By studying different parameters,summarizing its regularity and the influence of mechanical.(4)Project design of the inclined column bridge.At first,this paper proposes size of main structures,and determines the boundary conditions.The model was established by using the Midas/Civil finite element analysis software.According to the existing codes,determined technology standards and basic load combination.The static and dynamic analysis and the stab-ility analysis of the inclined column bridge are performed,the results all satisfy requirements of the design code.
