Study On The Value Of General Contracting Management

Contrast to conventional construction contracting mode, design and construction general contracting mode(hereinafter refers to “general contracting”) has the characteristics of design domination and integration of design, procurement and construction. It helps the contractors to promote the efficiency of project operation and achieve economic interests.However, the most important issue considered by the employer and the general contractor is how to utilise general contracting management system to maximise advantages, realise management value and obtain anticipated profit. Also, it is the significance of this dissertation.Firstly, it will introduce and clarify the essence of general contracting management value on the basis on general contracting. Secondly, from the perspective of stakeholders, it will demonstrate the value brought by the general contracting mode to the employer, the general contractor, the subcontractor and the public. Furthermore, the main factors of achieving general contracting management value will be analysed such as principles, subjective and objective conditions and practical management methods in design, procurement, construction,test and acceptance. Finally, this dissertation will instantiate and discuss the general contracting management value in innovated and exploratory projects in an attempt to benefit the practice of general management and realisation of value.
