The Application of HUD is being promoted by Civil Aviation Administration of China(CAAC)with the advantages of reducing pilots load,prolonging the duration of observation and improving flight accuracy.But unequal distribution of attention,reduction of detection efficiency of failure and fault,issues of loss of situation awareness and other human factors issues will be caused by the characteristics of HUD.And runway incursion events are more dangerous and occur frequently in approach land phase.For human factors on the design and application of HUD,research on behavior pattern and cognitive performance of Pilot using HUD under runway incursion scenario is carried out.Based on A320 cockpit visual simulation system with HUD,the experiment of pilot using HUD to detect runway incursion was carried out to evaluate behavior pattern and cognitive performance of pilot.The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1)Airworthiness regulations,advisory circulars,SAE standards and technical documents related to the design and application of cockpit and HUD were analyzed to define the Bureau,the industry and the operator's requirements for the design and application of HUD.And human factor issues in the application of HUD were sorted out.(2)The visual simulation system of A320 cockpit was designed by visual simulation technology.This system includes models of head up display(HUD),primary flight display(PFD),cockpit of transport category airplanes,3-D terrain of airport.And a program was written to read flight joystick data to control flight.Based on this visual simulation system,the performance experiment of pilots using HUD and PFD to detect runway incursion under runway incursion scenario was carried out to conduct research on behavior pattern and cognitive performance of Pilot using HUD under runway incursion scenario.(3)From the aspects of pilot behavior pattern and performance,the pilot eye movement patterns,manual manipulation behavior and cognitive performance of detecting Runway incursion by HUD/PFD were analyzed.And whether the flight displays have a significantly impact on the pilot's behavior mode and performance was verified.(4)Because the visual saliency of the information affects behavior patterns and cognitive performance of pilot and perception of flight information,the CISD-L(Color,Intensity,Shape,Direction,Location)model was proposed to analyze the visual saliency of the cockpit.The visual saliency of pilot using HUD to detect runway incursion was extracted by this model.
