With further implementation of energy restructuring policy,, photovoltaic power generation has been promoted vigorously in China. However,photovoltaic power generation is characteristic of intermittency, volatility and randomness.Large-scale solar power integration would have an impact on power grid and force a certain amount of power to be given up.It decreases the efficiency of photovoltaic power generation and restricts its usage, causing a waste of resource. On the other hand, China is abundant in hydroelectric resources. The hydroelectric power,flexible in initiation and excel in load regulation,complements photovoltaic power generation. Consequently,it has always been a wildly researched issue in the field of optimal regulation as for how to integrate the above two, using both to their advantage and avoiding respective shortcomings.In this paper, the author first analyzes the characteristics of cascade hydropower station and photovoltaic power station and elaborated the advantages of optimal integration of them according to the current development of technology at home and abroad. A scheme for united management is then proposed. The scheme makes cascade hydropower station and photovoltaic power station as a whole for regulation. Firstly,the output curve of photovoltaic power station in one day is predicted according to the weather and the inflow of middle and upper reaches is ascertained in light of the hydrologic data of the upper stream inflow. Then the optimal integration of hydropower station and photovoltaic power station is conducted according to the requirement of dispatching and local carrying capacity.The paper discussed relevant problems about the optimal regulation and proposed a short-term optimal regulation model with combined aims of the largest daily generation and the most smooth remaining load curve. The model is designed to improve ability of regulating peak-load and make sure all the power would be utilized while increase economic returns. CuckooSearch based on microhabitat is adopted to solve the model.The example of three-cascade hydroelectric station in lower reaches of Golmud River Basin and two-period photovoltaic power station around it is employed to validate the scheme, model and algorithm. The hydrologic data of two typical days, that is, dry season and rain season,is used to separately calculate and analyze the predicted photovoltaic data in sunny, cloudy and rainy day.It verifies the practicality and validity of the theory mentioned in the paper and offers a new idea as to short-term optimal regulation of cascade hydropower station and photovoltaic power station.
