Research On The Public Building Design: Towards A Feminism Reflection

In 1960 s,with a relatively stable world pattern and sustainable development of science and technology like the birth of electronic information technology,our original limited living area has changed.These made us eager to have more comprehensive understanding of the world and the tradition concept were altered in the areas of philosophy and literature at the same time.People looked at things in a more diversified way,and the aesthetics of the building required no longer routine monotony during the period of large-scale industrialisation.The inherent understanding of beauty cannot be the most powerful factor in judging anymore.Such a social environment made some architects begin to abandon the blind worship of modern architecture,and actively explore more diverse tendencies of aesthetics.Under these circumstances,the development of architecture entered a flourishing period of post-modernism.At the same time,gradually matured feminist philosophy joined the exploration of future construction development,and developed into a cross theory of feminism architecture.Under an in-depth exploration of nearly half a century,it has been found that the feminism exerted subtle influence on architecture design,and it is what this paper attempts to reveal.In this paper,we choose public buildings as research objects based on phenomenological research methods,and select the attempt to discover the trace left by feminism in the design of public buildings as our research questions.This paper is structured in three parts,i.e.discovering of the phenomenon and analysing of the concept,analysis of the phenomenon and invention of the theory,and studying of the phenomenon and generalising of the strategy.Due to the combination of architecture design and feminism involving a wide range such as architecture,sociology,philosophy,ecology,etc.,our paper will only discuss the following aspects: the development of public buildings and the background of feminism join-in,the influence of feminist on architecture design,the performance of feminism in public buildings both inside and outside,the works and thoughts of female architects abroad,and the study on the differential awareness between genders in domestic public building space.The first three are mainly discussed under the view of feminism and the latter two are supplements from the view of female perspective.Based on the exploration of the feminist tendency to public building design in theoretical and practical,we prospect a combination between feminism and architecture in the end,and expect a consummation of hidden herstory of architecture.In addition,we also hope to supplement existing architecture theory from a dimension of female and bring new enlightenment and thinking of future domestic architecture design.In the society today,the efficiency of production has been greatly improved.Also,the composition of population related to public affairs has been changed: the single hegemony of male culture has been deconstructed as the redefining to the virtual information society from the materialized male-dominated society,leading to the establishment of an emotion-oriented new feminism order.The booming of digital technology and the convert of social condition has evoked the conspicuous feminism tendencies in architecture aesthetics.Based on the study of contemporary public buildings and phenomenological research methods,this paper intends to analyze the revolution of architecture aesthetics in digital information age.At the same time,this paper summarizes the characteristics of feminist reflection in digital information architecture aesthetics from the following two aspects: the tendency to feminism in social culture and aesthetic orientation,as well as the representative works of architects with digital technology in terms of architectural forms and architectural expression.The main intensives are to expand the existing architecture aesthetics theory and enrich the discussion of aesthetic patterns.Furthermore,architects are expected to design buildings in coincident to contemporary technology and play a guiding role to the future practices.
