As an important space of residence,college student dormitory building in China has al-ways been in the marginal of design and become the most inconspicuous part in campus space.College student dormitory buildings in China share the same pattern because of their unit-repeating and self-replication in organizing space.This thesis,based on the perspective of gender difference,explores the design strategies of student dormitory building to create envi-ronment of residential space with more humanistic concern.Also,the relevant study has a significant meaning for the expression of gender issues in architecture field.The thesis on design strategies of student dormitory in college under the perspective of gender is developed in three parts as follows:The first part is to raise questions,including the first chapter,which is concerned on the major problems of background,purpose,relevant concepts,methods,and research status at home and abroad.The second part is to analyze problems,including the second to fourth chapter.Firstly,the situations of student dormitory in college at home and abroad are been summarized and compared.Secondly,important thoughts and views of feminism are linked with this study.Last,deep research in situations of student dormitory in Southeast University is been imple-mented and analyzed to conclude the different needs between male and female students.The third part is to solve problems,including the fifth chapter.Under the view of gender differences,design strategies of female student dormitory are discussed in the dimension of group and single of building.Also,one specific design for dormitory unit is presented to visu-alize solutions proposed.
