The construction of the building can't be separated from the material basis, and the material basis is from natural resources. With the development of society, the consumption of resources is increasing, and the non-renewable resources become increasingly scarce. At the same time, the over-demand of human resources overburden the earth, causing the destruction of the global environment and worsening climate and environment.People are more deeply aware of energy conservation, environmental protection, the importance of caring for the earth, and then pursue the construction of harmony with nature, saving materials, energy, low consumption of sustainable development of the building. At the same time, with the progress of the society, people's demand for the activity space becomes diversified, especially for the large span space, which is a new challenge to the building structure and the construction technology.Since the date of birth, light construction shows a strong superiority in saving energy of the material and creating unique spaces.German architect Frei Otto was one of the earliest architects of light architecture research and achieved great success in the field of light construction, and thus received the Pritzker Prize for Architecture in 2015.Frei Otto's most notable feature is the lightness of the building.Frei Otto's work is characterized by its lightness and high creativity.Through the study of literature, case study, interdisciplinary study and qualitative analysis, the paper seeks his unique and advanced architectural concepts, design methods and expressions of technology in building ecological adaptation architectures by analyzing his architecture works. The paper aims to dig hard for the research of Frei Otto's roads in following the development of the times, creating architectures that are energy saving, environment protecting and sustainable.Frei Otto's lightweight buildings have a strong natural character.Otto created architectures with the "natural" concept under the guidance of the creation of light buildings. His lightweight building has the characteristics of minimizing energy consumption,in aspects of the building materials and building means,to achieve the consumption of the smallest. And he made full use of natural energy for architectural design, making the process of building energy conservation to a minimum. To make buildings achieve to the minimum of natural interventions, buildings can be integrated into the natural environment, the design of the use of recyclable building materials so that the building can be as natural as the biological can be "metabolized" and digestion,do not cause damage to the environment and interference.Otto's light architecture also has natural morphological features. He is inspired by nature in the design, studied under the method of scientific research and created a minimal surface and minimum path that conforms to natural logic. The light structure is more reasonable, and architectural form more "natural".Frei Otto's technical features of light buildings are particularly prominent.Frei Otto has creatively built a number of light-weight structural systems in the architectural career, which are unique in structure and reasonable in structure.Frei Otto, under the inspiration of industrialization and modernism, explores the light-weight architecture with its innovative spirit. The concept of building materials, building structures and building structure systems which are light in construction has been explored and realized, and new types of structures such as membrane structure and cable net structure have been created. At the same time,he used the architectural elements such as cable, film, latticed shell to create a number of different forms of light to subvert the traditional form of building,to liberate space, create a new space experience, people in the visual and spatial experience To the "light" of the building.Otto's exploration of technology to create different forms of light construction is Frei Otto's greatest contribution to the construction industry.Frei Otto focuses on humanistic care in architecture. At a very early stage,he recognized the problems encountered in the development of architecture, cities, and the environment during the development of the times, and proposed solutions to these problems. He focused on the development of the times, the protection of traditional buildings, the innovative use of new light construction technology to traditional architecture to make the building a new vitality;he pursued the sustainable development of architecture,so that the building can adaptively meet the different; He has carried out many utopian explorations of environmental earth. At the same time,Otto pursues the symbiosis between man and the environment. He proactively puts forward his thinking on the future life, considers the architectural design under special circumstances, and improves the living environment with the design to improve the living quality.Otto paid attention to the characteristics of regionalization and designed the architecture in line with the local people's sentiment. He respected the local natural environment, humanistic environment and social environment and paid attention to the spiritual belief needs of the people, creating many unique atmosphere.Overall,Frei Otto focused on very light-weight expression in the design of the building.Frei Otto's architectural works reflects the lightweight in the natural attributes, technical attributes and human attributes of all aspects of the building. With the help of the analysis of Frey Otto's works, this paper analyzes its innovation in light-weight architectural creation, analyzes its architectural conception and obtains the profound meaning of his works. It can also provide useful inspirations for the development of Chinese architectures.
