The crane's carrier is the main part of truck crane which determines the performance ofthe whole vehicle. Suspension system is one of the main parts of carrier. It decides traveling safety, operating stability and riding comfort of the vehicle. In recent years, with the development of mathematics, engineering mechanics, and computer science, the use of CATIA and ADAMS of CAD, CAE software is a kind of effective method to design, analysis and optimize suspension system. The paper is to research the design of new type truck crane carrier front suspension assembly, according to company's new product development plan and achieved research and design results.There are 3 points which is very hard for us: how to calculate and decide the axle load;how to choice and decide the system plan of suspension; how to calculate the frequency and acceleration on the frame.I calculated the GVW, and set some key parameter of vehicle and then calculate the axle load.The type of front suspension is determined as leaf spring plus equalizer beam, adopting three parallel torque rods steering mechanism. To calculate front suspension load distribution refers to multiaxial vehicle load calculation method. Choose suspension key parameters against national and enterprise's standards and requirements. Find the outsourcing parts through corporation with parts supplier.On these bases, three-dimensional modeling software CATIA is used for assembly and parts physical design. Then, these parts are input multibody dynamics simulation software ADAMS directly or simplified with several simulated operating conditions against enterprise's test requirement. Suspension dynamic performance in different conditions is simulated and researched. Parts of physical parameters are modified against research result to meet the design requirements.The paper uses CATIA, ADAMS etc. software in the mid-to late design process to do modeling and simulation of assembly, which makes the movement of the products structure and mechanism visual and direct for the designer. It proves that the design of the assembly reaches company's requirements, realizes product's functions, and finally is testified by road tests.
