With the continuous development of social economy and the speeding up of urbanization,the increasing of urban population and motor vehicles,urban traffic congestion has become a common problem faced by big cities all over the country.As a result of traffic congestion,traffic accidents,energy waste and the pollution caused by waste emissions and other issues,not only the sustainable development of economy is restricted,but also the quality of people’s lives are seriously reduced.Due to that the intersection is the main part of urban traffic in cities,the traffic congestion often happens on the intersection in the city.How to improve the intersection traffic capacity and reduce vehicle delay rate have become the main issues of the traffic control research.Traditionally,the solution of traffic congestion problem in general is the expansion of the traffic network.But this method is expensive,more serious harmful to the living environment of the city.And the effect of this kind of way to ease traffic congestion is limited.The development of intelligent control offers a new way for traffic control.Due to real-time traffic system is a nonlinear and time-varying system,the traditional control method is difficult to achieve satisfied results.The fuzzy control with no need to establish accurate mathematical model has become the first choice for intelligent transportation control method research.The basic idea of this article is based on fuzzy control.In order to reduce the average delay of vehicles,this paper proposes a two level fuzzy control model of regional intersection.The first level is detection level,and the corresponding vehicle urgent degrees are detected by each phase of the vehicle detector.The second level is decision making level which decides whether to make phase transformation.And this paper considered normal and abnormal transportation state,and designed the corresponding control rules.According to the proposed fuzzy control rules,the corresponding simulation program is designed.The simulation results show that compared with the traditional timing control,the designed fuzzy controller can effectively reduce the average waiting time of vehicles and improve the traffic efficiency of vehicles.
