In the operation of the power network, the communication system is an important technical support link, which needs to be able to ensure timely and accurate transmission of the actual operation data of the power grid, dispatch control instructions of controllers and data interaction among different intelligent devices.In recent years, with the development of distribution network automation and intelligent construction, communication network further extends to the distribution network. The number of communication nodes is increasing. Node distribution develops from centralized to decentralized. The type of transmission of information is more diversified. The requirement for the environmental adaptability of the field communication device is higher. Existing communication network of power system has difficulties in supporting the intelligent communication demand of the distribution network.In this paper, the needs of the intelligent power distribution network communication are analyzed and technical characteristics and performance differences of different communication modes are compared by referencing construction of related systems at home and abroad. It is concluded that EPON and wireless communication technology should be used in distribution network for large scale network.In this paper, the communication technology for distribution network is analyzed from aspects of bandwidth, real time performance, reliability, security, scalability and construction and operation costs etc. The design and analysis of the communication scheme is carried out using the full coverage project of Danyang distribution network as an example.In this paper, a useful exploration is made for the choice of intelligent power distribution network communication, which is of a high practical value.
