Nowadays, the society has realized the transformation from the industrial age to the information age, and the production efficiency of the industry has been greatly improved with the development of technology. In recent years, the construction industry of China develops rapidly, but compared with the developed countries, the efficiency of the industry is not very high, one of the important reasons is that the application of information technology is not deep enough. The architecture design, the first important part of the the architecture design, will no longer stay in the traditional two-dimensional map and other technical requirements and need the support of advanced data information function. BIM(Building Information Model) is a data model which can accurately describe the engineering object and activity. It can create a virtual building model that contains a large number of real building information. The model contains a lot of building materials and construction information, and is a database covering all the building information, which can be used not only in the the architecture design, but also in structure design, equipment management, engineering quantity statistics, computational cost, property management, and other building life cycle management. This paper explores the feasibility and necessity of the application of BIM technology through using BIM technology on the construction plan design process optimization analysis; Then illustrates that specific application of BIM technology in the the architecture design stage. At last, based on the“Yiwu Zhongfu Plaza Project”, the specific application process and results of BIM in construction design stage are analyzed. The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1)The feasibility and necessity of the application of BIM technology are explored through the process of “late pre” and “deepening optimization analysis” in the construction design stage on the “vertical” and “horizontal” points of view. Under the advantage of BIM technology management, the whole building program design process is more integrated and the design efficiency is greatly improved.(2)The specific application points of BIM technology in different stages of the the architecture design are interpreted and analyzed from three points: the “functional requirements” advantage analysis of BIM technology in the process of the architecture design; the “technical support” from BIM technology and the combinations between the design process and BIM soft wares.(3)Taking “Yiwu Zhongfu Plaza project” as the research object, using Revit software mainly, the detailed modeling and analysis of the deepening design, program display and other processes with BIM technology are described in the task analysis, program formation, program design, program deepening and program expression and other stages of the the architecture design in this paper.
