With the sustaining requirements for large amusement device to develop its characteristic of “higher?faster?more challengeable”,many Giant Wheels have been the indispensable and important members.As a new kind of space steel structural styles,Ferris Wheels can take full advantage of its geometric shape to suit the effect diagrams under various load combinations,keeping the formation and load-effect perfectly consistent.Therefore,as a high-performance spatial structure,Ferris Wheel can make full utility of materials properties,adapt to any type of architecture,have good mechanical performance?reasonable structure formation and construction convenience.Different from the traditional Ferris Wheel with spoke-type structure,the novel non-spoke-type Ferris Wheel reforms substantively.The innovative non-spoke-type wheel hub,with no spoke-type cable installed into the dimensional ring,is seated directly on the base via link rather than a horizontal axis connecting pylon.Consequently,the non-spoke-type Ferris Wheel makes important breakthrough in the aspect of architecture,stability,total weight,passengers' comfort and safety,manufacture of structural members,and the construction& erection.On the basis of previous research on this type of structures,the construction method for Ferris Wheel should be further studied systematically and comprehensively;meanwhile,setting the ground of the constructing Bailanghe Bridge Giant Wheel in Weifang City,it's necessary to simulate the construction process of non-spoke-type Giant Wheel.The concept,characteristic and application for actual engineering are introduced.Generalization about the civil present research work is made in terms of construction method related to Ferris Wheel;meanwhile,the necessity of construction simulation analysis for the non-spoke-type Giant Wheel is definite,which is to promote the development and application for the construction process.The main contents are as fellows:(1)introducing the geometrical nonlinear finite element methods,considering mesh-woven fabrics Giant Wheel as dimensional lattice column,which is referred to established the rigid matrix of the 3-D rigid-jointed beam-column,3-D curved beam-column and flexible cable element,and searching the solutions to solve geometric non-linear equations;(2)on the basis of the previous spacial structure constructing research,studying systematically for the construction methods of Ferris Wheel and summarizing the characteristics of the programs and scope;(3)introducing the engineering of Bailanghe Bridge Giant Wheel in Weifang City,and according to the operating features,summarizing the constructing scheme' high-altitude bulk method with rigid steel supporting structures;(4)Using Midas/Gen for construction process simulation of Ferris Wheel in the theory of elements' birth& death technology,and verifying the design and construction programs rationality and security;(5)dealing with data from the construction process simulation analysis,and summarizing the internal force& deformation regular of high-altitude bulk method with rigid steel temporary support.In summary,the construction process simulation of non-spoke-type Giant Wheel has important reference value to reasonable construction.Numerical methods and experimental data obtained in this paper,has guiding significance for future research and construction of the structure.
