Since the birth of the Ferris Wheel,it got rapid development in the world.Japan,Britain and other countries have built several Ferris Wheel of representative. In the recent years,China has built many landmark of the Ferris Wheel one after another. The Bridge on Bailang river is a novel construction for it constructs a Ferris Wheel together with the bridge. The complexity of the structure may result in complicated distribution of the inertial forces. The braided lattice structure is adopted by the wheel which diameter is 125 m and it is the largest diameter of ring-shaped Ferris Wheel in the world when it is built. So it is necessary to perform static and dynamic analysis for Ferris Wheel structure.Through an Engineering project of Ferris Wheel of the Bridge on Bailang river.First, the finite element model of Ferris Wheel structure is built in ANSYS software. In order to meet the design of structural configurations, deformation analysis is conducted.Based on deformation analysis,The static loading is determined according to the condition of the design sheets and the static analysis is performed. And presents the results of the critical buckling loads from linear bifurcation buckling analysis and nonlinear analysis on the Ferris Wheel which have good overall stability bearing capacity. As the base of dynamic analysis, model analysis is used to determine the characteristics of Ferris Wheel's vibration, and then we got the structural periods, natural frequency and mode shape. The dynamic response analysis of the Ferris Wheel under seismic action is made by response spectrum method and time history analysis method.Considering X-direction and Y-direction,we obtain the deformation style and stress distributing.Through these two results,we found that Ferris Wheel has strong vibration resistance. The results provide theoretical basis for the engineering design. Finally, the currently urgent problems are also presented.
