As the development of economy, the axial load level and heavy trucks proporti on are increasing in the development of highway transportation, which cause new hi ghways' being damaged in early operation,Then large-scale maintenance repair or reco nstruction were carried out.The main reasons for this are that the analysis of the effect of heavy load traffic on asphalt pavement structure is not comprehensive and reasonabl e enough. And the traditional structure design has limitationsCombining the key project of the LuanHai highway engineering in HeBei provi nce,the loading features of pavement structure under heavy traffic based on theoreti cal analysis, simulation, field investigation and engineering practice is analyzed.Acc ording to the old road traffic volume survey and the axle load survey, the traffic c omposition and the proportion of various vehicle types, the old pavement disease sit uation of the LuanHai highway and the causes of the disease are analyzed. The fini te element software ABAQUS is applied to establish the contact model of composit e base asphalt pavement and flexible base asphalt pavement under moving loads,dy namic response of asphalt pavement structure under the heavy load is also analyzed.Based on the models, transient response law and different speeds are analyzed, and the d ifferent response is concluded.Disease of small radius corners is summed up and s olutions were proposed. In the finally, three current asphalt pavement bases' mechan ical indexes under heavy traffic were analyzed and pavement structure suitable for h eavy traffic is proposed. The results of the research are practical and economical, and pro vide theoretical basis for optimal design of heavy traffic asphalt pavement structure.
