Cable of cable-stayed bridge has a light weight,large flexibility,low natural frequency and small damp,which leads to produce various kinds of harmful vibration easily under external load and is harmful to the stability,comfort and safety of cable-stayed bridges.Using homemade magnetostrictive actuators for applying axial control force to cable is a kind of practical method.This subject is funded by the National Natural Science Foundation ——The Magnetostrictive Actuator Cable-stayed Active Control Experimental and Theoretical Study(51078142).In the view of the mechanics model of the magnetostrictive actuator and the cable vibration control theory and experiment based on the magnetostrictive actuator,we carry out the research.The following is the main content of this paper.(1)It introduces the development of cable-stayed bridge,the four common forms of the vibration of cable,and the cable vibration control methods,the research and application of magnetostrictive actuator.(2)It introduces physical characteristics and mechanical properties of the homemade giant magnetostrictive actuator,designing magneto-mechanical relationship experiment of giant magnetostrictive actuator with the bias magnetic field under the cable model,and magneto-mechanical coupling model of the magnetostrictive actuator under the cable model is obtained.(3)It introduces the cable vibration control theory,and has established the cable control equation of motion.The solution strategy of the bilinear control equation of motion of the cable is proposed.(4)Using Matlab software,the numerical simulation analysis on the experimental model of cable are conducted,using two different control strategies(LQR control and Bang-Bang control),and achieves a good effect of vibration reduction.(5)Experimental model of cable and the real-time control system are established,the cable vibration control program is designed,and theexperiments of cable under free vibration,simple harmonic vibration and random vibration are completed with the result of a good effect of vibration reduction.
