With the city urbanization intensified, so many countries and regions are facing an increasingly serious problem - the shortage of water resources, and water as a direct economic and water resources, to solve the problem of shortage of water area, it plays a vital role in improving the environment and water resources.At the same time, the paper clearly "sponge city" as a model of city rainwater utilization in construction engineering, attaches great importance to the protection of natural water use,greatly reducing the construction of drainage pipe and reinforced concrete pool project. Storage facilities often with the existing city green space, landscape, landscape water combination, the net cost is relatively low, but also significantly reduce the water environmental pollution control costs, reduce losses caused by waterlogging in the city. To a certain extent, can ease the tension of water resources, with a strong economic, social and ecological significanceIn this paper, the background and significance of rainwater utilization are studied. Based on the review of various domestic and foreign literatures, the following conclusions can be obtained after analyzing the current situation of urban rainwater utilization in different regions of China and abroad:1) by the way of utilization of rainwater, rainwater utilization, use that roof building and greenbelt rainwater utilization of pervious pavement rainwater is simple and feasible, and the quality of rainwater this in several ways after treatment is good, simple and efficient use of rainwater, one can reduce the city drainage and treatment system load, reduce the pressure of flood control, reducing rainwater runoff pollution containment urban heat island effect, but also can improve the city's ecological environment, is more suitable for the present stage of rainwater use in Xi'an city.2) in the residential quarter in Xi'an city recycling purification project for demonstration,using physicochemical treatment based process, physical methods for flocculation, filtration,chemical oxidation (chlorine dioxide, algaecide etc.) through the combination of organic and reasonable, in order to achieve the best treatment effect, the purification of rainwater as the green irrigation and road cleaning, etc. two cycles, recyeled. At the same time, the environmental and economic benefits of the analysis, in order to achieve the best results.3) a campus in Xi'an is based on the LID concept of rainwater utilization project, after the analysis of the campus, the design of the four types of LID facilities (natural drainage system,under the concave type green space, permeable pavement, ecological roof). In the analysis of the setting area and operation effect, we can see that a smaller version of the model as a"sponge city", the concept of LID campus greatly reduce the pollution of water environment,materials and plant a layer to reduce the volume of runoff, reduce runoff pollution, so by measuring data: the volume reduction rate reached 30%, the peak reduction rate of 25%,combined water cut, the pollutant load reduction reached more than 24%, can guarantee the water environment safety, with great environmental benefits.
